My Week on Wednesday… April 2

Join me for 'My Week on Wednesday"… where I share what I've been doing all week!

Welcome to this week’s edition of My Week on Wednesday… where I take a few minutes to share some of the things I did, and learned throughout the week. And some of the blogs I visited and articles I read.

It’s spring! The season of mud is upon us. Flowers will start blossoming soon! Gardens will happen. Amazing as that might seem when looking at the still snow-crusted space that is supposed to house strawberries and lavender and thyme.

The dogs describes the garden.

And rain! Glorious rain!

Spring, to many people, also means Easter. If you are looking for things to put in plastic Easter eggs (besides candy), A Typical English Home has a ton of ideas!

On to Things That Sound Delicious:

Orange Creamcicle Smoothie. I used to love creamcicles when I was little. This has to be good! 🙂

Chocolate Zucchini Bread. I can’t wait until summer and zucchini are exploding all over the place! This recipe happens to be gluten free, with a vegan option.

Cream of NOT Wheat Cereal. I’m not gonna lie. I love Cream of Wheat. My mom used to make it on the weekends (and smother it with that corn syrup laden maple syrup-like product) and it was better than Lucky Charms. I do NOT love the idea of a big bowl of wheat gluten–even if you’re not gluten intolerant, this is a Bad Idea.

Oatmeal with Butter & Blueberry JamSo check out that Cream of Not Wheat recipe, which is gluten free. Maybe with some real maple syrup. Or jam!

I didn’t come up with jam idea by myself. I got it from Little Big Harvest’s Peanut Butter & Jelly Oatmeal. Personally, I cannot eat peanut butter before 10 in the morning (due to a Tragic Peanut Butter Incident that occurred in my youth), but my kids think this sounds like an excellent idea. And for the unscarred, I’m sure it is!

Finally: Beefy Cauliflower One-Dish Meal. She totally had me at “one dish,” and this sounds really delicious. I would probably use ground venison, because we have a lot of it still, but this dish is already on my rotation! 🙂

When you’re looking for all things Tasty & Delicious, be sure to check out my most recent recipes: Easy, Quick, and Frugal Beans & Rice, Turkish Rice Pudding, (which was featured this week by Elise of Richly Rooted on Wellness Wednesday!) and Warm Milk… for Bedtime.

My Brussels Sprout Stew (or How to Tackle March like an Irishwoman) was featured by Tammy of Trayer Wilderness on her Mountain Woman Rendezvous. Remember, just because March is over, doesn’t mean you can’t make this delicious stew! 😉

And, also, because I have heard a rumor that lice is going around our school… Lice Stay Away Spray.

Be sure to check out She Eat’s newest podcast, Yammer Sweet Pots, where she talks about all things sweet potato-ish and shares some wonderful recipes, including one from yours truly! 🙂

You also need to check out Young Farmer John (age eight) as he explains how to milk a cow. No kidding. I am now ready to get a cow.

(Okay. Seriously, people, STOP reminding me that I cannot have a cow in the city! You ruin all my fun!)

And, finally, Mila’s Little Things post, the fog that stole spring. She has shared some simply stunning pictures of Scotland in Springtime, and you simply must go look at them!
