Hello, and welcome to another My Week on Wednesday!
I hope you are all enjoying your holidays, and holiday preparation! It’s been a little bit crazy around here with plays and concerts and dance recitals. But a good kind of crazy. The kind of crazy where you look at your little dancing Pixie and think, Could she get any cuter? and listen to the Boy playing his clarinet and wonder, Is it even possible that I made something that is that talented?
Not to mention the tear-jerking performance of Ebeneezer Scrooge at our school’s performance of A Christmas Carol. I don’t actually even know that kid — if it had been my kid up there, I’d still be recovering! 🙂
But, anyway… I’m fairly certain that there is a lot of that going around. The craziness, I mean… maybe not the sobbing at an elementary school play.
Now I like to have my holiday shopping all wrapped up (pun totally intended) by our Yule Party. For one thing, it’s much easier to relax and have fun when I know that those last couple of gifts are not hanging out there… waiting to be made or purchased.
Plus we do exchange a few gifts at Yule.
But mostly it’s like setting your alarm clock for a half-hour before you actually have to get up. Or telling your perpetually late friend that you’ll meet her at the restaurant at noon… when you have no intention of actually showing up until 12:30. That way, when she shows up at 12:45, you’ve hardly waited at all.
I used to have that friend. Now I am sometimes afraid that I am that friend. (I think it has something to do with having children.)
So I’m thinking that maybe you don’t quite have all your holiday gift-giving ducks in a row. So I’ve put together a list of great last-minute gift ideas from myself, my fellow bloggers at the Homestead Bloggers Network, and some of my other favorite bloggers.
From the Kitchen
Outrageously Delicious Homemade Jam from the Herbal Academy of New England — the jam is raw and uncanned so just whip some up and your loved one has fresh jam for their toast
Tea. Grab some of your favorite teas, a mug, and maybe a tea ball, or this cute little fellow, and you are good to go
Wine. And be sure to check out these cute little hat and scarf sets from Little Fall Creek to dress up your wine bottle.
Homemade Granola from Fabulous Farm Girl — besides being delicious, having a ready-made breakfast cereal can be the gift of 5 more minutes to sleep!
Jam. If you’ve been making jam over the summer, grab a couple of jars, stick them in a cute holiday bag, and you have an instant gift!
Layered Popcorn Gift Jars from Chicken Scratch NY
Just a Little Bit of Pampering
Lavender Bath Salts from Fabulous Farmgirl
Homemade Rose Lip Balm from Naturally Loriel
Sweet Oranges & Rose Perfume from the Herbal Academy of New England — this sounds really amazing! Want even more gift ideas from the Herbal Academy of New England, be sure to check out Last Minute Gift Ideas to Make at Home.
Or grab your loved one a gift certificate for an Herbal Course from the Herbal Academy.
A cute basket of homemade cleaners like the ones from Common Sense Homesteading — Now be careful with this one! I think it’s an awesome gift… but you don’t want your recipient to think you think they are messy! 😉
Homemade Car Air Fresheners from Simple Life Mom
Seed Packet Ornament from Yearning & Learning — I love this idea!
Easy Baby Headband Tutorial from Mom it Forward — A Clever Person could probably figure out how to turn this into a bow or barrette for an older child… or a whimsical adult 😉
Infinity Scarf from Once Upon a Time in a Bed of Wildflowers. If you know how to crochet, you can whip one of these babies out in an evening. I know, ’cause this is my post. 😉
Don’t have a whole evening, but still want to give someone a scarf? Try the No-Sew Fleece Scarf from Mom Prepares.

There you go. Take a deep breath. Maybe two. You can do this! 🙂
And now for the Quote of the Week. Approximately daily, I post quotes on my Facebook Page. The quote with the most likes, shares, and comments will become the Quote of the Week.
Okay… maybe this isn’t exactly a quote. But it is a picture with words on it… and it was, hands down, the most shared picture with words on it this week.
Besides. I really love the sentiment.
Thank you for joining me for My Week on Wednesday. Tell me, what did you do this week? I’d love to hear!
And be sure to join us on Friday for the From the Farm Blog Hop!
