Welcome to My Week on Wednesday… where I take a few minutes to share some of the things I did, and learned throughout the week. And, especially, some of the blogs I visited and articles I read.
Thanks for joining me!
The kids had a wonderful Halloween… and were very happy with the books they received when all of their candy disappeared. (Not quite so happy about the disappearance of their candy, but still…)
The Boy, being a HUGE fan of the Percy Jackson books
, actually received The Iliad & The Odyssey, which he carries around a lot, but I haven’t actually seen him read. Still, I’m pretty excited that he wanted them!
And the Pixie was Dorothy this year, so she got The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, which she is really enjoying!
(Hey, did you know that in the book, the ruby slippers are silver?!??)
This week I got a brush
and started dry brushing… which, aside from feeling amazing, has many health benefits, from improving your immune system to reducing cellulite. Learn all about it from the Health Extremist.
And I read another explanation about why you shouldn’t use a microwave from The Healthy Honeys. We actually don’t use a microwave… which is sometimes a pain in the neck. Do you use a microwave?
In preparation for our next big holiday–Thanksgiving–I found this apple-cranberry holiday stuffing which sounds amazing, and a grain-free, Karo-free pecan pie, which I can’t wait to try. My husband adores pecan pie, but the only recipe I have uses corn syrup… which was the first thing we gave up on our “real food” journey!
Speaking of real food, this week’s post is Divine Hot Chocolate… which is a remake of an old favorite hot chocolate recipe of mine… Decadent Hot Chocolate. It really is decadent… but it needed to be real food-ed up a little! Obviously, I still added the wine!
Finally, the big news this week is that my husband is in Poland on business… which means I am insanely jealous — I have always wanted to visit Poland. And, also, that I am a bit insane. I find the transition from “team” to “flying solo” to be bumpy Every. Single. Time.
It means that I plan to have a Downton Abbey marathon, and crochet a blanket. Or at least start crocheting a blanket.
It also means, I hope, that I will have some neat pictures and some information about “real food” in Poland when he comes back. Although, I was warned that he is actually there to work, not wander around the countryside looking for Farmer’s Markets!
I hope you are enjoying your week!
I’m *so* glad The Boy likes the Iliad and Odyssey! Some of my favourites. That gives me some ideas for Yule/Christmas…
try googling Old fashioned recipies……My Mom used to make my Dad pecan pies long ago before corn syrup I think……I will have to call my sister Amy Jo…..
I’m really enjoying cooking the “old fashioned” way! And the food tastes better, too, I think!
I LOVE your blog! So much information and linking to other posts with more information! Thank you so much for visiting my blog today! I hope the rest of your week is wonderful!
Oh! Thank you, Vickie!!!
*feeling all warm and fuzzy*
